Wicksteeds is keen to host networking events where new or potential clients and professional colleagues can enjoy a pleasant and relaxed atmosphere,
meet new or established acquaintances and enhance their knowledge into
the bargain.
Wine Tasting Evening
Thus some thirty guests arrived at Corney & Barrow in Lime Street in the City of London for a tutored wine tasting. The theme was to compare New World and Old World wines from the same grape varieties – New World in your left hand and Old World in your right (or it would have been the other way round by the end of the evening!).
Opinions varied – of course – but most importantly everyone had an enjoyable evening and as one correspondent put it “including some proper food”.
London Walk
Wicksteeds has organised a few conducted walks around various parts of London so it was with considerable enthusiasm that we embarked upon this latest venture, especially as the walk was titled ‘Along th e Thames Pub Walk.’
So some thirsty people met in the ‘Pavilion End’, by Mansion House and set off with our tour guide to find out some of London’s secrets ……… and London’s pubs!
Central London and in particular the parts along the Thames are very impressive and very busy during the evening. And what an evening it turned out to be. As if by magic the earlier gloomy skies cleared and turned into a beautiful balmy evening and made the whole event even that much more pleasurable. We witnessed an impressive sun-set and learnt a lot about Shakespeare and Dickens and saw little bits of the capital that are so easily overlooked until attention to them is specifically drawn.
After a couple of hours of easy strolling we all adjourned to the ‘Barrow Boy and Banker’ on the south side of London Bridge for a well earned supper.
All our guests said how much they had enjoyed the evening and suggested we should organise a similar event soon.
Watch this space for our next event!
